Winter colds, bugs, flu’s, infections…
Ever had a bit of cold, that then turned into something else, which turned into something else and took a while to clear off?
Just feeling blurghh for a week or 2 and struggling with the recovery?
Here are some bits for you to try, and don’t worry, it’s never too late to start. Even if your ok at the moment, these are super helpful to do anyway ๐
Exercise – Of course we are going to big up exercise and make you aware of how important it is.
When you recover from illness you will feel like waiting until everything is absolutely fine before returning to exercise. But exercising is one of the fastest ways to recovery. This doesn’t mean beasting yourself until you can’t breathe. Just doing what you can, taking things a little easier, lighter weights, more rest. Or even just heading out for a stroll, can help speed up recovery.
Foods – Mainly vegetables, lots of different one’s, herbs, spices… Soups/broths ๐
Again, you’ll want to have everything other than vegetables, but feeding the body with lots of vitamin and nutrient rich foods is imperative when trying to recover or wanting to recover quicker. Poor quality foods can slow down our recovery. Making a stew/curry/casserole? Pop some extra herbs and spices in there and pack it out with things like spinach.
Supplements – Let’s keep it simple. Vit C and Vit D or a good multi vitamin. Some green/herbal tea each day goes a long way. Water intake is very important as well… yes we know it’s cold.
That’s it.
Of course there are more things to do, we could go on for days.
But we feel these things above done often, can help you through the winter and also speed up recovery.
So don’t complicate it. Read the above and be honest with yourself as to where you probably should start or need to improve, then do it ๐
